Unfortunately, May's powers only permit her to revoke British citizenship for those doing something 'seriously prejudicial' to the UK's interests to those with dual nationality. This is a necessary safeguard to prevent zealous socialist ministers from cancelling the passports of UKIP members on holiday abroad. So there is no easy sanction against the sole British national jihadist training in a Pakistani terrorist training camp. For the rest, those with dual nationality, the message is simple;
- book your terrorist training package holiday in Pakistan, the Sudan or Yemen and fly out
- the Home Secretary cancels your British citizenship
- turn up at the immigration counter a month later to have your passport confiscated and be refused entry back into the UK
- be blocked from appealing to the ECHR because you're no longer a British citizen
- return to Pakistan. Get martyred by a US drone.

Unfortunately, most of the ones we'd like rid of probably only have British nationality - and the foreigners are protected by the ECHR.
Maybe we need a policy, aimed specifically at Islam (because that is where the threat is coming from lets be honest), that allows the courts to remove the citizenship of those Muslims born in the UK who agitate or Shariah Law or take part in terrorist activities or training.
The fear of being made 'stateless' may concentrate the minds of our Islamic guests wonderfully. See

Oddly enough, this also - normally I'd disagree, but, but ....
Because of the sectarian strife within islam, those of the peaceful sects (Ismaili, Sufi etc) would not be affected in any way.
Just the Sunni / Wahahbi nutters & a very few extreme Shi'a - but they are not, usually our problem, actually - their fight is elsewhere, fortunately.
Thanks, Raedwald - nicely written.
The ECHR not only protects the "foreigners" from rights violations but also UK nationals. And it also protects non-europeans.
Governments, and not only ours, have yet to come to terms with people having "rights".
Life's a bitch, and then your own government "dies" you.
It is arguable whether we are more at risk from "terrorists" or our own government.
Yes, Anonymous,
as the NRA says in the USA. "If the government enforces effective gun control, then the only armed criminals will be working for the government">
If we can't "off" so called British nationals at islam's terrorist, training camps, what exactly is the point of MI6?
As to muslims in general - we should just laugh at them and mock their daft 6th century twattery at every opportunity.
Nothing like a bit of ridicule to expose religious stupidity.

I agree with that. But such a policy to be possible we would have to be in a state of declared war.
We are in a state of undeclared war with Islam at the moment. The momentum is heading towards a declared one.

Where the US leads, the UK follows...after all, apart from the ECHR we have very little enforceable right...
John
Greg Tingey, I do take your point. I must admit I haven't had much problem or heard of many problems with the Ismailis or the Sufis (re the Sufi's at least not in this or the last century) I certainly agree that the Ismailis and the Sufi's get a lot of aggro from the Sunni and the Shia.

The way things are going it will be the people of Britain who will declare war on Islam before the Government do. As I am a 'constitutionalist' that worries me.
John said: "apart from the ECHR we have very little enforceable right".
Actually we have our own constitutional rights, which are are ignored by the ECHR and by the EU. And now also ignored by our own politicians because they have become ensnared by the EU and the anti-democratic way the EU operates.
It should be obvious but I will spell it out: the ECHR and the EU, are the problem not the solution.

I should have written that Islam has been at war with Christendom for well over 1000 years.
Since 9/11, we have responded with the Orwellian "War on Terror".

And no-one actually comes out looking good, incidentally.
